Karyn Altmanis the founder and director of MASSPIKE VOLLEYBALL.
Karyn Altman, Masspike's Camp Founder and Director has been running volleyball camps for 27 years. She coached women's and men's collegiate teams for 13 years, assistant coaching at George Mason, Nebraska and then head coaching at Harvard, Wentworth and at MIT where her team competed in the NCAA Division III National tournament seven out of nine years. MIT finished 4th and 2nd, in back to back years and Karyn was voted the NCAA Division III Coach of the Year.
While coaching at MIT, Karyn started a volleyball camp and in 1993, moved her camp to other locations including Brandeis and renamed the camp MASSPIKE to fit it's new location. In 2015 Masspike Volleyball Camp moved all it's sessions up to Chelmsford, MA. In addition to the camp, small group and team clinics are offered at her house (grass and sand) in the summer and private lessons are also offered throughout the year. Karyn also been on the coaching staff on her sons' teams at both Beantown and Lat42 Volleyball Clubs, where the teams have won New England Regionals and competed in the Boys National Tournament from 2004-2009. She is also a volunteer coach for the Chelmsford High School Varsity Boys Team..
Karyn played many years of USAV, competing at the Adult National Championships six times with Boston based teams. She played four years of Varsity Volleyball at MIT and played at Waltham High before that. Through her coaching and playing, she has met the many wonderful coaches that she hires to instruct and inspire the next generation of volleyball players.
